Main Function
Tax research and planning for Barclays Capital and affiliates to maximize tax advantages for the Barclays group.
Analysis of federal, state, and international tax issues.
Implementation of tax-efficient strategies by working with Group and business personnel to achieve business goals.
Tax support for execution of M&A transactions.
Main Duties
Develop tax planning strategies to minimize US, state, and foreign taxes
Manage Tax Department relationship with other Corporate departments such as Treasury and provide technical assistance in those areas in which their operations are affected by taxes
Recommend and implement tax-efficient structures for acquisitions, dispositions, and restructuring.
Provide technical assistance to the tax compliance and tax audit groups in preparation of tax returns and IRS and state examinations of filed returns
Consult with outside advisors as appropriate
Assist with required tax disclosures for financial statement purposes
Review tax legislation, regulations, rulings, court decisions, to evaluate their impact on Barclays Capital and develop related planning strategies
Management involvement with responsibility for delivering objectives and supporting career development of junior staff
Person Requirements
· MBA in Taxation, JD Degree, LLM - or - CPA preferred.
· Minimum 10+ years experience in domestic and international tax planning
