Main Function

  • Tax research and planning for Barclays Capital and affiliates to maximize tax advantages for the Barclays group.
  • Analysis of federal, state, and international tax issues.
  • Implementation of tax-efficient strategies by working with Group and business personnel to achieve business goals.
  • Tax support for execution of M&A transactions.


Main Duties

  • Develop tax planning strategies to minimize US, state, and foreign taxes
  • Manage Tax Department relationship with other Corporate departments such as Treasury and provide technical assistance in those areas in which their operations are affected by taxes
  • Recommend and implement tax-efficient structures for acquisitions, dispositions, and restructuring.
  • Provide technical assistance to the tax compliance and tax audit groups in preparation of tax returns and IRS and state examinations of filed returns
  • Consult with outside advisors as appropriate
  • Assist with required tax disclosures for financial statement purposes
  • Review tax legislation, regulations, rulings, court decisions, to evaluate their impact on Barclays Capital and develop related planning strategies
  • Management involvement with responsibility for delivering objectives and supporting career development of junior staff



Person Requirements

· MBA in Taxation, JD Degree, LLM - or - CPA preferred.

· Minimum 10+ years experience in domestic and international tax planning

· Management experience
