The Finance department covers Product and Financial control. Both Product and Financial Control are jointly responsible for the integrity of the financial records of Barclays Capital.
Main Function
Commodities Product Controller in NY for the Global Commodities Product Control team.As a key member of the US Commodities Product Control Group (PCG) team you will be responsible for providing ongoing support for the US PCG function as the business undergoes a period of rapid expansion. It will be necessary to liaise with multiple functional groups on P&L, Risk, Trade Booking, and other adhoc queries. Additionally you will be required to participate in an extensive new product roll-out program as the business expands on both a geographic and product line basis. Product Control works closely with the trading desk on a day to day basis and must be able to offer advice on control and accounting aspects of proposed new business. It is also a significant point of contact for Operations, IT and Finance as a whole. The role gives the chance to gain technical exposure on existing products and markets, as well as through work on new business proposals. Product Control is often called on to assist with all aspects of trade bookings, so building strong relationships across internal departments is especially important.
Main Duties
Cover all Product Control tasks for the Commodities business in the US including: · Provide ongoing support of the new product roll-out projects in the US · Provide technical and valuation related support for commodity derivative transactions · Perform analysis surrounding regulatory based requests · Ensuring balance sheets for the businesses are correct through price testing, provisioning and control work. · Responsible for responding to ad-hoc queries from the trading desk and other support areas, often requiring liaison with multiple departments. · Providing management information to the Front Office and Product Control Management. · Implement, maintain and enhance control processes surrounding the business. · P/L commentaries The candidate will have a pro-active approach to problem solving.
Person Requirements Essential: Bachelor's degree in Acct/Fin/Math or equivalent work experience - Commodities / Derivatives

- Strong product knowledge of Commodities, Forwards, Swaps & other Derivatives

Preferred: - Professional designation
- Preferred Accounting degree or at least some Finance/Math / Science courses
- Power & Gas or other Energy related experience
- Strong familiarity with accounting
