A leading financial application vendor is looking for a wealth management strategist. The successful candidate will be asked to create strategies to help provide various innovative solutions targeting foreign and Japanese private banks, domestic retail banks as well as the mass affluent market.

Wealth Management's vision is to build a growing and profitable business serving the world's wealth management communities. We aim to serve Wealth Management institutions; global banks, brokerage firms, niche private banks, investment advisors and retail investors, both directly and as a community, using highly scalable desktop platforms, premium content, intuitive workflow tools and unique insight. We are looking for a talented individual to directly manage the Wealth Management desktop strategy and product management function for Japan

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the assessment and proper framing of the Desktop needs of the Wealth Management Community in Japan. Own feedback cycle from Clients and Sales Channel to Product Management teams for all Desktop Wealth Management propositions including market data, content modules and workflow tools.
  • Spend significant time in the field, both with financial institutions and financial advisors to understand current pain points and key value drivers in how they service their clients.
  • Assess existing WM platforms internally and work with Global WM Product Management team to define strategic roadmap and platform approach. Develop high level product roadmaps, product requirements, and functional specifications that support this strategic roadmap.
  • Work closely with respective WM Desktop team to deliver WM Desktop releases for Japan including unique localization requirements and workflow tools.
  • Actively participate in the WM Global Desktop Product Management team forums to share WM trends, market opportunities and product ideas to leverage the vast array of our technology and content assets.
  • Support the Regional Head of Wealth Management in achieving the Wealth Management Desktop revenue targets for Asia; directly responsible for revenue targets in Japan.
  • Serve as the Wealth Management Desktop expert by providing valuable input on industry and market trends, competitive information and specific product information including roadmaps, longer term plans, and guidance on commercials.
  • Provide hands-on, tactical support for the local FGA, MSS and Sales Specialists teams by providing product training, assisting with significant client proposals; and participating in client presentations/meetings and ongoing relationship meetings with existing clients..
  • Position will be based in Tokyo, with some travel required.

Qualifications

  • 10 - 15 years experience of the Wealth Management market, ideally having direct professional working experience as a Product Manager/ Marketer, Financial Advisor, Wealth Manager or Private Banker.
  • Practicable knowledge of both the content (exchanges, fundamental data, asset classes, etc.) and workflow tools (market data terminals, trading application, planning applications, portfolio tools, etc.) used by Wealth Managers in Japan to perform their jobs.
  • Understanding of the market landscape for WM in Japan including the major market players and sub-segmentation of wealth management providers.
  • Highly energetic, self-starter, able to initiate relationships, processes and planning with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of credibility with the Japan Sales Channel and be able to partner with the Channel to represent us to clients.
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to prepare and manage ongoing product roadmap, business requirements and design documents.
  • Ability to support sales efforts; demonstrated knowledge of overall requirements of financial services firms to support end-user
  • Excellent communications/negotiations skills.
  • Cultural awareness and understanding/respect for the varying cultures across the region and globally.
  • Self-driven and a strong written and verbal communicator with the ability to influence.
