The job description for each of the 3 opportunities is similar and includes the following: In each case, the firm is well-established with a 10+ year track record, 60+ employees, and profitable. The candidate will join an established firm that already has Banking, Research, Institutional Sales and Trading Departments, but the firms are looking to grow their Equity and Equity Derivatives trading platform through the hiring of Sales Traders (among other things). The first hire in each growth plan is the Head of Sales Trading, who will come in as a player/coach with established relationships and set the hiring strategy and (some cases) competitive compensation model. The individual will participate in the management committee to help drive the overall growth strategy of the firm and be responsible for attracting and retaining other sales traders to the current team. Each platform offers a little bit of something different in terms of factors such as sectors they focus on with research and banking or technology differentiation/advantage, and/or level of control. That said, each situation offers a unique opportunity to offer a competitive platform to the buy-side, to both grow your own production and account coverage, as well as, attract and retain talent. Compensation is very competitive and includes: Salary/draw, attractive production payout, overrides on recruits, % of growth/profits, equity stake/partnership, etc. The best candidates will be high energy, enthusiastic individuals with a track record of having performed this job in the past and have the capacity to think strategically, understand the changing marketplace and attract talent for the team.
