Fantastic opportunity for a control minded Asset Servicing manager to lead a 2-3 person Corporate Actions team in Tokyo for a rapidly growing European bank.
Department Overview:
Global Operations manages high-volume diverse and complex settlement processes around the world. Our primary activities include:
Settling transactions across the full range of products. Advising clients, internal and external, of the state of their transaction.
Setting up new operations and business in support of Company strategy.
Ongoing automation of routine processing and control activities to reduce cost and improve service quality
Maintaining rigorous controls over the settlement process.
Largely located in London but with a global footprint, the group has intentions to expand their global reach in the near future. The Company's front office has undergone seven years of tremendous growth and the operations group now needs considerable focus to ensure they can support the business with future growth forecasts.
Responsibilities The Asset Servicing team (globally & regionally) is responsible for processing global dividends and coupons as well as corporate actions for Asia stocks. The team provides multi entity support for the Company's proprietary trading business, primes services and financing desks.
Main Duties
This person will manage the Tokyo Asset Servicing team and will be responsible for the day to day management of the dividend and the corporate actions areas. The team is comprised of approximately 3 staff and covers the following processes:
Capture, tracking and notification of dividend and corporate action announcements
Reconciliation of the Firm’s entitled positions and our dividend and corporate action entitlements
Processing election instructions on voluntary corporate action events
Updating of front office P&L and firm inventory resulting from dividends and corporate actions
Application of the Inland Revenue’s Manufactured Overseas Dividend tax rules
Pro-active management of the bank’s payables & receivables
Interaction with Front office, street counterparties and our clients
Continuous delivery of our technology change programme
Requirements:
Minimum 5 Years Experience in Corporate Actions / Asset Servicing area , with at least 2 – 3 years in a managerial role
Experience of managing the income processing and/or corporate action team for an Investment Bank
The potential candidate will also need to be able to demonstrate that they have:
A strong understanding of the control environment and the associated risks
Ability to prioritise and work under pressure and able to manage stressful situation.
Strong communication skills, ability to communicate at all level in Ops and its business partners (e.g. Product Control, HR, Front and Middle Offices)
Proven management skills
Leadership skills – ability to develop and implement visions for the department
Proactive / investigative approach to the role
Willingness to work a night shift, as the department primarily supports the London business
