                             Senior Advisor Accounting & Reporting

Never a dull day at the office 

You are an accounting expert who knows the financial industry inside out. Now you are ready to take your career to the next level. Because of your generalist and service oriented nature you like to act as an internal consultant to your fellow finance professionals.  

Your department and challenge

  • You will be developing the accounting policies to be used by ING Investment Management for financial accounting and reporting based on Group policy, IFRS and Dutch laws and regulations (DNB and AFM).
  • You will be preparing and providing instructions regarding financial accounting and reporting issues to departments. Advising management and the departments with respect the translation of policies to practical solutions.
  • The Guidelines & Procedures (G&P) department is the single point of contact for Group Policies & Procedures (P&P) and the Auditor. You will discuss policy, practical solutions and material accounting and reporting issues with Group and the Auditor.

 Your main responsibilities

1.        Monitoring and implementing regulatory developments

• Identifying, monitoring and participating in new regulatory developments regarding financial reporting by financial institutions, particularly with respect to IFRS and the Dutch Central Bank. Contributing to the assessment of regulations and analysing their impact on ING Investment Management and its clients.

• Translating regulations to policy and practical solutions by writing policy papers, answering questions and giving proactive advice.

• Provides ad-hoc support to departments in this area.

• Discussing the accounting policy and practical implications with Group P&P and the Auditor. 

 2.        Instructing and advising departments

• Responsible for the timely, accurate and complete representation of the ING principles for financial accounting and reporting under IFRS and Dutch GAAP in the ING Investment Management policies (for both proprietary and third party clients). 

• Advising the departments on the accurate implementation of the ING principles for financial accounting and reporting.

• Providing education and training to departments, with respect to the implementation of ING principles for financial accounting and reporting.  

3.        Project Management

  • Advising on policies by participating in projects and meetings such as; determining the accounting treatment of new products, valuation committees and other IIM initiatives.
Your experience and skills

  • Master degree in Economics, officially recognised accountant (RA) preferably
  • Professional experience in an accounting environment
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, the financial sector (preferably asset management)
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, (inter)national regulations (IFRS and Dutch GAAP)
