COMPANY BACKGROUND Our client is one of the largest private banking businesses in the world, providing professional wealth management services for clients in more than 30 countries including a full range of portfolio management and investment advisory services, an array of Investment Finance and banking services, as well as expertise from its Markets and Banking division. This global support network ensures that its private bankers are able to provide a tailored, confidential approach when providing solutions to each client’s financial needs. This role is situated within the Investment Finance division of the Private Bank and offers a broad range of products covering margin and security backed finance transactions including: private equity capital call lending, corporate aircraft lending, commercial real estate and residential real estate finance, FX and derivatives trading facilities. JOB DESCRIPTION Our client is now seeking an individual to transform their European investment finance division into a market leader within Origination, Structuring and Portfolio Management through: - Leadership
- Developing a sound business strategy and provide clear targets for both the Leadership team and their direct reports.
- Installing secure business processes
- Establishing a culture of continuous improvement and that audit readiness is evident
- Developing both internal and external client relationships
- Acting as a proactive player
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Manage, mentor, coach and develop key talent both in London and Geneva
- Revamp disciplines and quality of process including information systems
- Be a key driver of growth for 2010 - 2012 strategy
- Credibility with Risk
- Attract, recruit and retain individuals with key skills
- Develop business strategy and targets for the Investment Finance business in EMEA
- Responsible for communicating the business’s financial performance
- Co-ordinate the production of the annual budget in alignment with the strategy of the region.
- Provide Investment Finance and credit support to product (private equity capital call lending, corporate aircraft lending, commercial real estate and residential real estate finance, FX and derivatives trading), sales (High Net Worth and Affluent as well as support to none-Europe regions with business in Europe - Latin America, Asia Pacific, Middle East) and support teams.
- Working closely with Global Market Managers and Credit Managers to develop client relationships and ensure a high level of client service
- Business Change Management - identify and implement efficient business streams and realign the business where required
- Liaising with external UHNW clients and act as a technical expert / product specialist
- Oversee the design of Investment Finance solutions using client assets and collateral
- Marketing and transaction management, in addition to underwriting large complex deals as and when required
- Ensuring that as a business, the maintenance of credit standards, response time, delivery of quality work, training and development and balancing/prioritising of workload is adhered to
- Structuring of complex deals as and when required
CRITERIA
Knowledge/Experience: - Experience of managing teams across multi- geographical regions essential
- Business management of a credit-based product line including commerciality and control balance and able to drive a quality revenue line
- Able to drive and manage revenue lines
- Client relationship management experience required
- Extensive credit and structured products experience with UHNW clients essential
- Product knowledge of Equities, Converts, Credit-Linked FX and Commodities essential
- Wealth Management or Financial Services experience required
- Change Management and Processes improvement experience essential
- Strong analytical and financial skills essential
- Knowledge of securities, loans, investment, treasury products and other banking products preferred
Skills: - Strong interpersonal and communication skills and able to communicate with all levels of management
- Must have a balance of assertiveness and discretion to be a credible and sought after resource
- Have confidence to stand up to pressure and the credibility to influence others and provide practical solutions
- Ability to build relationships with key business heads across the private banking division as well as the bank’s wider businesses
- Able to present technical matters in a way that is meaningful to the audience: crisp executive summaries for seniors and detailed analysis for implementation by accounting and reporting units
- Must be able to stay ahead in a constantly changing environment. These changes will include business direction and priorities, personnel, accounting rules and standards in corporate governance
- Must be an agent for change, ensuring others understand current direction
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to challenge staff, while encouraging them in their best and highest endeavours
- Promote a supportive team environment
- Able to understand and manage staff's career, workload and compensation expectations and ensure staff understand and strive to achieve expectations
Qualifications: - FSA registered
- SCO level 2 or 3 preferred but not essential
