Department Overview The IT Production Department supports the technical infrastructure of Barclays Capital, delivering and supporting systems from hardware platform, (Compaq/HP, Sun, Cisco, EMC), through Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, Solaris), to Database Management Systems (Sybase, Oracle, MSSQL, DB2-UDB) and peer management systems (Messaging, Active Directory, Capacity Planning, Enterprise Management.) The Database Service, within IT Production, provides 24x7 support to the Bank across the four main database technologies above, across production, UAT, development and test and covering all aspects of service from helpdesk/issue management through to Engineering. Main Duties MS SQL Server (32bit/64bit) 2000, 2005, 2008 SQL Server configuration and maintenance Production / Development DB Administration of MSSQL 2000 & 2005 Windows 2003 Clustering (Active/Active & Active/Passive) SQL Server version migration(s) and upgrades DTS, SSIS, SSRS and REPLICATION design, build and support Performance tuning of SQL Server and Windows 2K3 configurations Standardise and maintain a consistent environment through regular upgrades and patching Provide weekend On-call duties within a follow the sun support model Manage mini projects - must have financial experience
