An exciting opportunity for experienced Project Finance / Credit Risk professional to join this leading European Investment Bank

Our client, a leading European investment bank is seeking an experienced Loan Officer to join one of its continental offices. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and execution of the division’s business plan with particular focus on Origination/implementation of transactions; risk analysis; expected loss (EL) analysis; grading and pricing of individual transactions; and the development of quantitative risk analysis methods. The successful candidate should have strong analytical skills; excellent numerical / quantitative analysis skills; an ability to produce clear and concise reports; strong interpersonal/negotiation skills.  

The successful candidate will have responsibilities for;   

  • The execution of transactions as well as expected loss analysis, grading and pricing of individual SFF transactions;
  • Undertaking financial and risk analysis; preparing risk pricing proposals; drafting financial reports and lending proposals; ownership of the approval process;
  • Leading and coordinating the negotiation process of risk based financing instruments with promoters and other counterparts;
  • Liaison with the European Commission;
  • Risk analysis;
  • Revenue sharing calculations required by the Cooperation Agreement with the Commission;
  • Communication with Commission Services;
  • Any other issues related to risk pricing such as the analysis of traffic and revenue risks;
  • Implementation of SFF risk pricing;
  • Development/enhancement of quantitative and qualitative credit risk analysis techniques, financial modelling skills and pricing theory;
  • Supporting geographical departments on risk pricing overall and on EL pricing of individual transactions; assisting in identification of main risk variables; the establishment of input values with appropriate probabilities; adjustment of the borrower’s financial model to suit the EL analysis; running the stochastic Monte Carlo analysis using @Risk software, reviewing/analysing results and preparation of the EL report;
  • Maintenance of EL/risk pricing statistics/”best practice”

The successful candidates experience will include;  

• Minimum 2:1 degree in finance/economics or any related subject

• 5 + years experience in the financial sector, preferably in transaction-related long-term lending / Project Finance and/or Structured Finance and/ or Consultancy experience in relevant sectors

• Strong financial modelling skills as well as experience in credit risk assessment

• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and a good command of French. Knowledge of additional EU languages would be an advantage
