The Credit Portfolio Analytic (‘CPA’) team forms an integral part of the credit GBM risk analytics capability and is critical for the ongoing maintenance of GBM as an Advanced business under the auspices of the Basel 2 regulatory regime.

CPA team has had its remit considerably extended covering the end to end operating model. This includes infrastructure, data analysis, models development and review, tactical and strategic model implementation and taking responsibility for running operational batches for the bank.

Reporting to the Head of Credit Portfolio Analytics, the manager of the Business Information Team assumes responsibility for a team of up to 10 FTE (currently 4 FTE) constituted of 2 senior analysts and 2 analysts. The role of the team is to support the development, validation, enhancement, implementation, documentation and ongoing expert support of credit risk models by providing clean “golden source” data. The scope of the models extend to but are not necessarily restricted to:

oRatings and Probability of Default (PD)

oLoss Given Default (LGD)

oExposure at Default (EAD)

oRAROE and Economic Capital

oStress Testing

oPIT/TTC

The Team plays a key role in supporting model build data sets and the design and documentation from a data and systems point of view of strategic new initiatives such as the loan loss data warehouses, model data mart, RWA model impact analysis, stress testing, non core and asset protection scheme. Good understanding of PIT/TTC rating concepts and familiarity with external data set especially MKMV and Standards & Poor’s.

Requirements

The job holder is responsibilities/ deliverables are :

-Managing the ongoing work of the team ensuring that the individual and collective deliverables are completed in accordance with the plan to the required standards and documentation

-Identification of the need and subsequent prioritisation of work. Extensive liaison with CPA manager and Team leaders to establish and agree specific requirements, and ensure appropriate resources are available and applied to deliver the data for new model build and validation of old models  

-Management of the Business Information team i.e. mid and final year review, PDP. Contribute and discuss with the other managers to the overall structure of CPA.

-The hire of new members of staff to cope with the increased worked load and expansion of responsibilities.

-For the Delivery and sign off of Quarterly LGD and PD MI to Wholesale Credit Models Committee (WCMC).

-Presenting the LGD and PD MI to the FSA on a bi-annual basis.

-Liaise with Group Internal Audit annual review.

-Ensure controls and commands are in place and comply to GIA requirements.

-Acting as an expert resource as a centre of technical excellence to be consulted during the development of new and re-developed models for both the modelling team.

-Contribute to various committees such as the Information Quality Committee (IQC), Cradle Programme Implementation Board, monthly data quality prioritisations meeting.

-Provide sign off for all data documents required for modelling purpose

-Influence data model development strategy within the business areas and promote best practice.

-Review priorities and provide regular updates to Head of Credit Portfolio Analytics

Responsibilities

This is a high profile role with personal responsibility of ensuring that GBM credit modelling capability is developed to leading market standards.

People Management:
Prior experience in managing technical teams and other managers, including establishment and tracking of objectives and staff development

Ability to work effectively in a value added management role in a matrix environment across the end to end operating model currently in place. It includes providing direct support for tactical and strategic implementation


The Individual

Technical Knowledge/Qualifications

-Numerate, mathematical, statistical or economics degree level preferred.

-Post graduate degree or certification (e.g. MSC, MBA, CFA) preferred

-Excellent documentation review and report writing skills

-Good PC skills.

Experience

-Strong familiarity with credit and portfolio data capture and structuring and expertise in database querying and reporting tools

-Excellent written and verbal communication

-Good understanding of banking and finance ideally in Corporate Banking/Capital Markets environment

-Strong understanding of credit default and loss data

-Strong time management skills.

-“Can-do” attitude

-Team player, prepared to work close to deadlines

-Team Management experience

-Strong understanding and experience of wholesale credit risk modelling including: PD, LGD, EAD

-Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects/concepts in a practical business environment

-Demonstrable experience in influencing people and managing relationships across an organisation

-Proven track record for delivery and management of cross-Group projects

-Experience at setting common standards and liaison with credit policy functions

-Strong evidence of ability to work both collaboratively with teams and individually unsupervised as required.
