Cash Equities IT is looking for high calibre business and applications support professional to join a regional service delivery team as deputy manager, to support EQ Sales and Execution Traders and a diverse range of applications in a global and highly complex technical environment.

Overall Responsibilities:
• Deputy GSD manager for Japan Support , helping resource management and cost management
• Lead Trading floor support team in Japan (Team Size 4) and face off to the business to provide proactive communication.
• Responsible for Regional cash trading application in which the person collaborate with Development and other IT Infrastructure team for smooth and stable production environment
• Manage the day to day front -2 -back support along strong working relationship with outsource team in Singapore who provides F2B support to APAC and global Cash EQ application that covers applications in the client trading and execution and other associated businesses .
• Proactively manage regional requirements and communicate to local and regional business for changes. Assist local teams to assess local market requirement and provide support for better planning and co-ordination for quality and timely delivery of the product.
• Collaborate with Development for proper training for other support personnel, release testing, and implementation.
• Handle production incidents to restore systems in a timely manner, using strong interpersonal skills to manage users and other resolution teams, including application development groups. Demonstrating a sense of ownership and urgency to resolve or escalate issues.
• Drive team to focus on longer-term problem management and capacity planning to ensure system stability is maintained and improved
• Have a keen sense of application ownership and act as ‘gatekeeper’ of the production environment.
• Regularly review capacity of the underlying infrastructure to support current and projected business volumes and co-ordinate system upgrade and/or change projects
• Constantly focus on improvements including automation of manual processes, stability/supportability improvements and liaising with product providers on service enhancement
• Ensure that Service level agreements are understood and adhered to
• Learn and / or update both technical and business skills to better support new systems and business process changes – self and for the team.
• Demonstrate a disciplined and organised approach at work, candidates should be self-motivated
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with interfacing support teams, development teams, Third Party Vendors and outsourcer suppliers where appropriate.

Ideal Candidate profile:
• Demonstrates strong client facing skills: communication, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy are essential to ensure a courteous and efficient service is provided with tact and patience.
• Has a proven track record of building successful working relationships with clients and peers and able to motivate and manage a team of support professionals.
• Excellent analytical skills to be able to determine the cause of an incident or a practical interim workaround whilst under pressure
• Devoted to providing a ‘world class’ production environment – seeking to resolve the root cause of issues and to remove inefficient procedures. Knowledge of ITIL, service management processes are beneficial.
• Leadership skills preferably gained within a time pressured environment
• Self starter, innovative thinker who embraces change and also champions change for the better
• Should have fair understanding of the flow of the Cash equities business and have sufficient experience in project planning, coordination and documentation as well.
• A strong technical base in Unix and SQL – preferably Sybase or Oracle. Experience in Perl/other scripting language, application development (Java, C++) a plus. Some knowledge of networking, Tibco RV, application monitoring beneficial.

 

Requirements:

• Business Level Japanese Required
• A solid computer science education or degree with technical emphasis and which stresses logical thinking / problem solving. Association with the investment banking IT industry (Equity business) would be a plus.
• The person must be interested and able to work and learn in a dynamic environment driven by the business.
• There will be a requirement for the successful candidate to work on a flexible basis, at times working outside local working hours. Weekend work may be required for application release and maintenance activities

[Product & Process Knowledge]
- Knowledge of trading systems and / or the Equities business

[Business & Technical Expertise]
- Solid Unix know-how including scripting (Sun Solaris, Linux) & knowledge of relational databases (Sybase, Oracle) / query (SQL)
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and Network (TCP/IP) fundamentals
- Prior software development experience with Java or C++
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl , other middleware such as source control, crystal report etc.
- Knowledge of the FIX protocol is beneficial
- Knowledge of the SWIFT protocol is beneficial
- Very good problem solving and analytical skills essential. Business process re-engineering knowledge is advantageous
- The individual is a good communicator, is a team player and can work autonomously. He/She has experience in leading and managing
