Purpose of the role: As a key member of the Group Credit Policy team • To provide challenge and support for the Divisional credit policy functions in their delivery of robust and consistent policies and best practice. • To develop and implement Group Credit Policy using a risk based approach supportive of business ambitions. • To support effective and efficient communication of and compliance with Group credit policies. Deliverables: • Development and approval of new and updated Group Credit Policies providing a qualitative expression of risk appetite through extensive collaboration with the relevant Group Portfolio and divisional experts. • Review and recommendation with regard to policy exceptions • Work collaboratively with the divisions to review, support and challenge Divisional policy proposals • Conduct relevant analysis and produce reports, discussion papers that set out recommendations for Executive approval with regards to credit policy • Ensure appropriate credit policy response to relevant regulatory developments Critical Competencies: skills and abilities required for the role • Analytical Thinking • Collaborating and Leveraging Relationships • Strategic Influencing • Communicating with Impact Experience: The job holder is required to have prior experience in: • Policy formulation or implementation • Working in cross divisional teams • Work in a front line and/or credit department role covering Corporate and/or Retail customers • Diverse operating environments e.g. experience in more than one division within the Bank and/or other organisations • Retail Credit Risk management experience preferred Other Significant Role Requirements: • Able to engage, communicate and influence effectively with experienced credit risk professionals and to develop good networks across Group and divisional risk • Able to develop pragmatic approaches that meet potentially conflicting demands of key stakeholders • Confident presenter • Able to write in plain English • Negotiation skills Scope of Role: • The role encompasses all the Divisions in the development, approval and implementation of Group Credit Policy. Technical Knowledge: • Comprehensive understanding of Credit risk. • Good understanding of tools, techniques and methodologies used to measure and report on credit risk. • Good product level knowledge • Extensive understanding of the external operating environment, regulatory and legal practices.
