The business unit Trading and Portfolio Management is an active trader on all of Europe's energy markets and the number one trader of continental gas (TTF & Zeebrugge) and power (France, Holland, Belgium). By actively managing GDF SUEZ's positions in power, natural gas and other related energy products, they play a central role within the company by optimising GDF SUEZ's European portfolio. The Central Portfolio Management team develops and offers the most innovative products and services to our customers by combining physical delivery, transmission access and financial instruments to ensure that our customers get the cheapest energy prices. Within the department Portfolio Management, we open a new position as Generation Portfolio Manager. Mission As Generation Portfolio Manager your main tasks will consist of : - Analyzing and understanding Electrabel's European asset portfolio, in all its complexity in physical and financial commodity risks, foreign exchange risks, weather risks, plant risks, green commodities risks…
- Performing operational studies linked to the power plants using tools/models and assist other departments for investment studies
- Developing the competence centre for optimization tools (TOTECC), in order to support all Local Portfolio Managements in implementing state of the art solutions for power plant and gas optimization
- Developing and implementing EGENOSS (European architecture for technical data of power plants) in the Local Portfolio Managements
- Organising and implementing operational process flows and data flows related to the management of the different commodities linked to our powerplants (gas, coal, CO2, power).
- Working in close collaboration with our peers from within the Portfolio Management Team as well as with our peers of other Business units such as Generation and Market & Sales
- Ensuring a correct and complete contractual framework
- Being in contact with Middle-Office and Back-Office on matters relating to the management of asset portfolios
In order to achieve these missions, the team follows all relevant external changes, such as regulatory changes and/or market regime changes. The team works in close cooperation with the Local Portfolio Managements, Generation, Trading and Central Portfolio Management Departments. Profile - You have a master university degree in engineering and a complementary degree in finance, economics or other quantiative disciplines
- You have minimum 3 years of relevant experience in optimising and/or modelling power generation assets, performing investment studies for generation assets or economic modelling
- You have analytical and quantitative skills, combined with a hands-on approach
- You are and advanced IT user, capable of leading small development projects
- Excellence in execution and in reporting
- You are a team player with excellent social skills and the ability to operate in a changing environment
- You are fluent in English and you have a knowledge of an additional European language. Duch or French is an asset.
