Cutting-edge trading environment requires highly experienced Systems Support Officer with first class knowledge of the day to day operation of providing support to a high availability environment.
Our client, due to launch their exciting new Asia based initiative in mid-2009, aim to provide an efficient and transparent pricing platform for end-users and the global trading community to trade tailor-made contracts, hedge pricing risks in China and across the region, lower transactions costs and increase participation by Chinese and international traders in the specific sector in which they operate. Reporting to the Systems Manager, the successful applicant will work in conjunction with operations and development teams in providing support to the firm’s customers and traders. The applicant will provide expert support to the operations helpdesk, development and external customer IT departments.
The position will be required to operate in a multi-national, fast-paced and changing environment, in which technology is central to the success of the business. In line with business expansion and aggressive timescales, you will be responsible for ensure trading platform availability is maintained on production and development systems; for monitoring and maintaining the systems performing operational and market check procedures; to provide support for the Operations and Market Access teams by diagnosing and resolving platform issues in accordance with SLAs; to provide direct support to external customer organisations; to adapting, maintaining and changing trading system reference data such as new product rollouts; for liaison with software application / hardware vendors to resolve production / hardware support issues; and for participation in test processes for vendor software fixes and upgrades.
Your Profile
Bachelor Degree / Diploma in Telecommunications, Computer Science or related disciplines with a minimum of 5 years experience in supporting trading or back office platforms within financial institutions.
Strong Support and troubleshooting skills in Windows 2003 server, Linux/Unix operating systems.
Shell and Perl scripting and knowledge of XML.
Solid understanding of network operations and troubleshooting (LAN/WAN, switches, routers etc).
Experience working with OpenVMS systems and clusters would be an advantage.
Experience working with databases is preferable.
Ability to work in high pressure environments such as trading floor.
Good knowledge of futures and options market, clearing and delivery operations.
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Shift duty or work at times outside normal business hours on a scheduled or ad-hoc basis
