The Real Estate team manages private real estate debt and equity in the U.S., Europe, Australia and Asia. Investments span a wide range of strategies, including core, value-add and opportunistic equity and high-yield debt, for a premier list of institutional and private investors. As of year-end 2008, BlackRock managed approximately US$25 billion in such assets.

We are looking for a highly motivated, data-savvy individual with experience analyzing, and interpreting real estate market fundamentals and capital markets data. The primary responsibilities of the analyst are to conduct quantitative analyses and monitor the real estate property markets and how they pertain to our real estate portfolios.

Responsibilities

· The Research Associate is responsible for performing real estate market research to support the firm in its investment strategies, acquisitions, portfolio, property management, and property sales programs.

· The analyst will be responsible for developing models to predict the various influences on real estate performance such as market and submarket forecasting, return and risk premium modeling, etc.

· Conduct real estate market analysis, which focuses on real estate, economic and demographic trends and write overviews that summarize the results of this research.

Skills and Qualifications

· The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in real estate property market, financial or economic analysis with strong quantitative and computer skills.

· Must have a Master or Doctoral Degree in Real Estate, Economics, Geography or related field.

· Knowledge of EViews and the SQL query language are required, and knowledge of S-Plus, ESRI ArcMap and/or Visual Basic skills are a plus.

· Must also possess excellentverbal and written communication, analytical skills and have a high attention to details.

· A strong knowledge of the Windows environment and Microsoft products including Excel PowerPoint and Access is also necessary.

· Skilled at creative problem solving and deductive reasoning.
