They are a leading international investment firm based in London. They are looking for an experienced Portfolio Analyst specifically to cover fixed interest and related asset classes. The emphasis of this role is on investment/portfolio analysis and investment manager research.

Fixed Interest Portfolio Analyst £ 60,000 - £100,000 + Bonus + Benefits Central London Who they are They are a leading international investment firm based in London. Their primary task is to work with their clients towards generating superior investment results over time, while acknowledging and managing the associated risks. What you will be doing They are looking for an experienced Portfolio Analyst to join their team, specifically to cover fixed interest and related asset classes. The emphasis of this role is on investment/portfolio analysis and investment manager research. The role is twofold: Fixed Interest Investment Manager Monitoring and Investment Manager Research. You will have day to day responsibility for monitoring incumbent portfolios within fixed interest (investment and non-investment grade) and related asset classes. Undertaking detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis of portfolios for the purposes of supporting the team’s understanding and interpretation of the manager’s investment decision making process. This will include fundamental analysis relating to the key characteristics of the underlying investments and individual portfolios as well as the behaviour of aggregate multi-manager portfolios. The role involves: Acquiring a thorough understanding of investment managers' investment disciplines and their expected portfolio characteristics and investment strategies; Assessing whether the characteristics of, and activity within, the investment portfolios are consistent with the managers' espoused investment disciplines and be able to identify any inconsistencies. Identifying, summarising and presenting the key investment issues for discussion at regular manager monitoring meetings based on the underlying portfolio analysis. Attendance at and recording such meetings ; Analysing multi-manager investment packages, including fundamental characteristics of aggregate portfolio; Compiling investment commentaries for fixed interest and related asset classes for inclusion in regular investment reports, discussing the key issues arising from analysis of the underlying investments and the manager’s portfolio activities. Investment Manager Research includes: Identifying and researching superior third party investment management resources for fixed interest mandates and related asset classes – this will involve exploring any potential sources of new manager ideas in order to generate a steady stream of potential new candidates whose profile is consistent with investment philosophy. This will involve building a network of contacts within the financial/investment industry as a basis for high quality manager referrals, plus primary research. It will include gathering qualitative and quantitative information, performing detailed portfolio analysis of sample. What they are looking for You will need an educational background in investments and/or finance (CFA qualification would be an advantage). You must have a fundamental knowledge of fixed interest portfolio theory, finance, security analysis and fixed interest related instruments; Previous investment experience in a fund management organisation or investment bank would be a clear advantage You must have an accuracy, attention to detail and ‘forensic’ focus on portfolios and securities represent an important prerequisite for this role; Excellent literacy and writing skills are required; An understanding of investment styles, their nuances and how they combine in a multi-manager package would be a plus
